This week marks the beginning of San Diego comic-con. the one time every year where nerds gather in droves to celebrate their favorite pieces of pop culture. This year is expected to be one filled with a lot of things DC. We have an Aquaman trailer or teaser potentially dropping. There are rumblings of a new, crazy story comic to DC Comics, and now we have Shazam.
Shazam is looking to be one of the more lighthearted films in the DCEU. It’s hard to see Zachary Levi as a down and dark superhero. Shazam has always been the noble, cheery type, and hopefully this translates well into a live action film.
This shot right here might give us a glimpse into what the Shazam film might turn out to be. A fun-filled romp to bring the DCEU back on track. It’s too soon to say of course. Keep your eyes and ears open when it comes to news out of SDCC. We might be getting a sneak peek at what can be a real refreshing move in the DC cinematic universe.
On March 21st we’re going to truly see if Barry Allen has quick feet. We will finally be able to gander with glee the highly anticipated Flash/Supergirl musical crossover episode!
Darren Criss (Glee, A Very Potter Musical) will take on the role of the Music Meister, a villain originally portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris in the Batman: Brave and The Bold animated series. As we no-so-subtlety eluded to earlier, fans of Glee will be elated with this very small cast reunion (Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist were also characters on the show.) According to Entertainment Weekly, our heroes will be trapped in an alternate reality where life is exactly like a movie music (probably chock full of La La Land references as well.)
The crossover is set to begin toward the end of the March 20th episode of Supergirl and run through the majority of March 22st’s episode of The Flash on The CW.
We have just been treated with a brand new teaser trailer from the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, and boy is it fun. There’s so much fantastic Rocket Racoon and Baby Groot action, and it’s totally irresistible. It’s really difficult to the deny the tiny, adorable badass that is Baby Groot. Aside from the miniature, lovable arbor we see a whole lot of action bundled up with the iconic humor we can to love in the first Guardians of the Galaxy. The film is set to release May 5th 2017 so it maybe a little while before we see a full trailer, but keep your eyes peeled. There’s also no indication of The Avengers just yet, but with Infinity War on the horizon something is bound to happen.

Early today Zach Snyder shared this photo of Amber Heard emerging from the sea as Mera, Queen of Atlantis. Immediately you notice the striking detail in her costume. The deep greens, and intricate designs that very much emulate that of the comic book ensemble (crown included.)
Heard will appear as Mera in next year’s Justice League, and is set to follow up the role in the standalone Aquaman film.
Below is the concept art for Mera designed by Ian Joyner:
