Doctor Who Series 11 Teaser Rundown

Here is our first full glimpse at Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor.

This trailer is a bit strange, but that’s to be expected from a new Doctor who trailer featuring a brand new Doctor. It’s too soon for those over at Who to let us know what kind of Doctor Whittaker is going to be. So we get a trailer essentially presenting the new companions. Seems like Whittaker is taking a liking to three individuals in particular, and offers a small gift to each.

The first one is the most unclear, but it seems the man knows someone is there and realizes the change or slow down of time. He’s just enjoying what looks like a plate of baked beans when the reality before him is nearly halted. With this interesting shapes or cracks of light appearing before him. This is suggesting something very interesting indeed. Viewers of CW’s The Flash might find this effect very familiar, and ultimately seems to be hinting at The Doctor moving through time/space unencumbered by the Tardis.

Now the second individual The Doctor meets is a woman who just missed out on the last slice of pizza. So Whittaker takes it upon herself to refill the empty pizza box leaving the woman absolutely puzzled (but delighted, I’m sure.) The third is a little more poetic. Take a seemingly normal looking older gentlemen and swap his boring newspaper with a fun comic book titled “The Beano: Summer Special 1981”.

The BBC has just announced that River Song (Alex Kingston) will be returning to the Tardis in this year’s Christmas special! The filming for the Christmas special will begin this week. This is what Kingston had to say on returning to Doctor Who,

“To be honest, I did not know whether River would ever return to the
show, but here she is, back with the Doctor for the Christmas special.
Steven Moffat is on glittering form, giving us an episode filled with
humour and surprise guest castings. I met Peter for the first time at
Monday’s read through, we had a laugh, and I am now excited and ready to
start filming with him and the Doctor Who team. Christmas in September?
Why not!”

It will be an absolute thrill to see how River reacts with Peter Capaldi’s incarnation of the Doctor. It surely won’t be overly sappy like it was with Eleven or will it be…?

Here’s what Stephen Moffat had to say on the return of River, and the Christmas special,

“Another Christmas, another special for Doctor Who – and what could be
more special than the return of Alex Kingston as Professor River Song?
The last time the Doctor saw her she was a ghost. The first time he met
her, she died. So how can he be seeing her again? As ever, with the most
complicated relationship in the universe, it’s a matter of time…”

Doctor Who returns Saturday, September 19th.

Peter Capaldi sat down with the folks over at Entertainment Weekly to give the dish on his upcoming Comic-Con debut, and the ninth season of the show.

From what we’ve gathered, the season premiere (which will occur sometime this fall) will be a two-part event. Capaldi also mentions that he’s “very nervous” about his upcoming Comic-Con appearance. Quite uncharacteristic of the twelfth doctor if I do say so myself.

We know Missy (Michelle Gomez) will be returning in some way this season, and will be in the first two episodes. NOT to mention! Osgood (Ingrid Oliver) is CONFIRMED back from the “dead” this season.

We don’t know too much about what the overarching plot of this season will be just yet. What we do know is that there will be old faces, and new. Also, it could possibly be the last season with our Clara Oswald. That is still uncertain, but it seems like the perfect time to depart.
